ROME (AP) — The airport in the northern Italian city of Bergamo suspended flights Tuesday due to a runway incident that local media said was apparently caused by someone running onto the tarmac and getting sucked into an airport engine.

All flights at Milan Bergamo Airport were temporarily grounded after a man was sucked into the engine of a departing plane and died, according to reports.

The man was neither an airport employee nor a passenger. Milan Bergamo Airport did not say how he had accessed the runway where the plane was.
