Arkansas is set to hire former Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield as its next head coach after firing Sam Pittman earlier this season.
Auburn fans are coming off as cautiously optimistic about Golesh, the former Tennessee offensive coordinator who went 23-15 at South Florida, including 9-3 in 2025.
USF closed its regular season with a 52–3 win over Rice Saturday that secured the program’s first nine-win campaign since 2017. But even as the Bulls celebrated their late-season victory, head coach Alex Golesh found himself addressing questions about his own future.
BullsInsider.com, the USF affiliate for the On3 network, reported Golesh was weighing an offer from the Razorbacks worth $35 million over a 5-year period. That report followed a tweet from Trey Schaap of KABZ-FM that said Golesh had accepted an offer to become Arkansas’ head coach.
While reports have circulated that Golesh accepted the job to become Arkansas' next head football coach, USF CEO of athletics Rob Higgins posted a message to social media Wednesday indicating there are still ongoing discussions:
There was a report Tuesday morning from 103.7 The Buzz's Trey Schapp that Arkansas and USF coach Alex Golesh had come to terms for
Golesh took over a woebegone USF program that was 4-29 overall and 1-22 in the American Conference in the three years prior to his arrival and lifted the Bulls to 23-15 overall and 14-10 in the league.
