Advocates for people experiencing homelessness were stunned last week when President Donald Trump signed an executive order to make it easier for states and cities to remove homeless individuals from the streets and force them to receive mental health care and into treatment for drug addiction.

The order directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to “reverse judicial precedents and end consent decrees” that limit jurisdictions’ abilities to relocate homeless people.

Both the governor and president want to make it illegal to sleep in public spaces, an approach questioned by some Inland Empire officials.
