One Republican governor, Phil Scott of Vermont, has rejected a Trump administration request to send troops, saying it wasn’t a proper use of National Guard personnel. WASHINGTON – The Justice Department has opened an investigation into whether police officials in Washington, D.C., have falsified data to make crime rates appear lower than they are, according to two people familiar with the probe who weren't authorized to publicly discuss an open investigation.
President Donald Trump meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House in Washington on Monday. Zelensky said he expects to discuss "key issues" at the meeting. It comes after Trump's Friday meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
"The murder rate in Washington today is higher than that of Bogotá, Colombia, Mexico City, some of the places that you hear about as being the worst places on Earth," Trump said.
