Public safety power shutoffs considered for some SCE customers
Power was shut off as a precautionary measure in wind-prone areas of Southern California as the first significant Santa Ana winds of the season descended on the region.
With the first Santa Ana wind event of the season bringing increased fire danger to a warm and dry Southern California this week, Gov. Gavin Newsom has decided to send additional firefighting resources to the region.
While Sunday and Monday are expected to be cooler, Tuesday and Wednesday will bring a significant spike, according to the National Weather Service.
Eastern San Diego County will be under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Wednesday due to weak-to-moderate Santa Ana winds, the National Weather Service says.
