The Seattle Storm suffered a tough 85-82 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on a day when they honored all-time great Sue Bird with a statue outside the arena.

Seattle fell to Phoenix 85-82 on Sunday in front of a sellout crowd at Climate Pledge Arena after Storm legend Sue Bird's bronze statue was unveiled.

Alyssa Thomas continues to have a great year. In Phoenix's last game, she had 15 points, nine assists, six rebounds, three steals and a block. Her hands were all over this game, and once again, she was close to triple-double.

Phoenix Mercury star Kahleah Copper hasn't had the easiest season, missing the first 11 games after knee surgery. After losing two in a row, Copper and the Mercury (19-13) will try to get back on track when they visit the Seattle Storm (17-17) on Sunday night.

The Storm signed free agent Zia Cooke, reuniting with the backup guard who they traded to the Mystics two weeks ago.

The Phoenix Mercury lost a close one against the Las Vegas Aces, but they bounced back with a win on the road.
