For years, Sue Bird called the shots on the court as a point guard. Now, the legendary WNBA star will be doing it off the court for USA Basketball.

Sue Bird is giving another assist to USA Basketball, becoming the managing director of the women's national team. The five-time Olympic champion was named to the newly created position Thursday and it marks a major change in the way the organization creates its roster and coaching staff.

Bird will be responsible for identifying the coaching staff and players for the 2028 Olympic games in Los Angeles.
