President Trump’s plan would send a huge number of refugees to Jordan, adding new frictions to the kingdom’s often tense, sometimes violent history with displaced Palestinians.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II said he would take in 2,000 Palestinian children from Gaza who are very sick or suffering from cancer, signaling new openness to a plan by President Donald Trump to drive a deal that would resettle the residents of the war-torn strip.

Trump will hold meetings and a cordial lunch for Abdullah as he tries to get his support for the glitzy redevelopment plan and perhaps even accept some of the Palestinians who would be displaced.
