🌪️ Stay alert for severe weather this week!

The Big 12 Wrestling Championship was shut down for roughly 40 minutes Friday night as severe weather rocked the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.  Just after 6 p.m. local time, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning as a tornado touched down near the Tulsa metro area.

A dangerous tornado-producing storm swept through northwestern Oklahoma on Thursday night, prompting urgent warnings from the National Weather Service. Residents in nearby communities including Fairview and Enid were urged to take immediate shelter.

UPDATE 8:42 A.M.: As I was writing this article, the Storm Prediction Center issued an update on the tornado forecast. They removed the black hatching from Michigan, meaning they don’t expect a tornado of EF2 strength or stronger.

A tornado warning will tell you specifically what prompted it to be issued. Many are issued based on radar showing rotation, indicating a tornado is possible. Others can be confirmed as in progress by debris detected on radar or visually by a spotter.
