That was the message the mayor delivered in a sober but defiant five-minute midday address from City Hall on Tuesday, all but comparing Donald Trump’s Justice Department to the Almighty after Washington directed the Southern District of New York to dismiss the corruption charges against him.

The Justice Department's directive to drop the criminal prosecution of New York Mayor Eric Adams is one more example that relationships, allegiances and vendettas are in some cases determining who gets targeted − and who gets reprieved − in the age of Donald Trump.

Trump DOJ lawyer Emil Bove wrote that bribery charges against New York City's mayor should be dismissed "without prejudice," meaning they could come back.
