Today was a huge day for Fable fans who have been waiting for any sign of news on the new game. Not only did we get to see gameplay in Fable at long last, but Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games also narrowed down a release window for the new game.
One of the biggest stories to emerge out of this week's Xbox Developer Direct was the long-awaited update about the new Fable reboot. It's been 15 years since Fable 3 wrapped up the original trilogy, but one of the franchise's key features won't be returning in the new game.
So far, Playground Games seems to understand the assignment in rebooting one of Xbox's most beloved franchises.

Fable is set to be released in autumn 2026. Fable is currently planned for PC, Xbox Series X and S consoles and PS5. This marks the first time the franchise will be available on the PlayStation platform. A Switch 2 version is reportedly under consideration .
Corden claimed in an X post that a version of Playground Games's reboot of Fable for Switch 2 "isn't 100% definite for now." In a follow-up post, Corden stated that a port is not currently in development because of "purely logistics," but he expressed belief that it'll eventually happen.
Playground Games confirms that the Fable reboot won't change your appearance based on behavior, but it has a good reason for this decision.
