The new Department of Government Efficiency now has access to a federal system responsible for $6 trillion in annual payments.

A team led by Elon Musk recently gained access to America’s federal payment infrastructure — a system responsible for distributing trillions of dollars in Social Security, Medicare, federal salaries and government contracts annually.

If the wrong person gained access to personal financial information held by the U.S. Treasury, it would constitute the biggest data breach in history.
