Gabriel is a doubt as Arsenal prepare to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League this weekend. The Brazilian centre-back picked up an unspecified knock before being substituted after scoring in Tuesday night’s 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and has been unable to train since.
Arsenal have reached an agreement with Max Dowman to sign scholarship terms, with a professional contract expected to follow when he turns 17. Dowman has emerged as one of the game’s top prospects and made his Premier League debut against Leeds United in August, aged only 15 years and 235 days.
Arsenal spent big in the summer to try to improve their attack, but it might be their defence that could end up winning them a first Premier League title in 22 years.
