For the second time in less than a month, a high-profile pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians was placed on non-disciplinary leave in relation to a sports betting probe.

Freeman, dealt from the Guardians to the Rockies for Nolan Jones in March, came up clutch in his return to Progressive Field in Monday’s series opener. Jones, who went through spring training camp preparing for another year in the Colorado Rockies outfield, was traded to the Guardians shortly before the 2025 season began. The deal came together quickly and somewhat surprisingly for Cleveland, which sent Tyler Freeman to the Rockies.
