Tropical Storm Melissa was moving slowly through the Caribbean Sea early Thursday, said forecasters warning of "life-threatening flooding," and landslides.

Rain is not in the forecast. NOAA and Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters have determined that Hurricane Melissa strengthening as expected and will lead to life threatening and catastrophic flash flooding and landslides for portions of Hispaniola and Jamaica.

Tropical Storm Melissa is lumbering through the Caribbean Sea and bringing a risk of dangerous landslides and life-threatening flooding to Jamaica and southern Hispaniola.

The NEXT Weather Team is tracking Hurricane Melissa as it spins through the Caribbean this weekend. Melissa intensified Saturday afternoon into a Category 1 hurricane. It will continue to strengthen before making landfall as a Major Category 4 hurricane in Jamaica on Tuesday.
