Trump summoned groups of skeptical GOP lawmakers to the White House on Wednesday to nail down their support, tag-teaming with Johnson to persuade Republicans to accept the Senate version that many had sharply criticized.

The procedural "rule" vote was 219-213, with one Republican, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, joining all Democrats in opposition. At one point, five Republicans had voted "no" on the rule, while eight others did not vote, but Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., managed to sway them overnight.

President Trump is scheduled to sign the bill into law at 4 p.m. on July 4 at the White House, locking in tax reductions and Medicaid cuts.
