John McLaren had been performing at Happy Craft Brewing on Saturday night. Police responded to a report of an assault near the venue the same evening and found McLaren injured.

West Main Street in Moncton, N.B., is now the home of several car dealerships, but it was another mode of transportation that gave the area its defining characteristic not that long ago.

RCMP said the victim is a 39-year-old woman from Moncton and investigators have been in contact with her family.

Police have identified the victim as Melissa Price, 39, of Moncton. RCMP said they continue to investigate her death as a homicide.
