The Senate confirmed Linda McMahon to lead the Education Department, paving the way for President Donald Trump to dismantle the agency.

Linda McMahon, a major Republican donor and a former pro-wrestling executive, was confirmed Monday to serve as President Donald Trump’s secretary of the Department of Education.

WWE co-founder Linda McMahon was confirmed as the U.S. secretary of education Monday night by a party line vote of 51-45.

North Carolina native Linda McMahon testified two weeks ago before a Senate committee that she supported President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to close the Department of Education. Knowing that, the U.S. Senate confirmed McMahon’s nomination for education secretary Monday night in a 51-to-45 vote.

The former wrestling mogul will become the nation's 13th secretary of education, and she has pledged to be its last.
