Kristin Nelson led the Republican primary election for Alabama House District 38 on Tuesday, capturing 46.69% of the vote but falling short of the majority needed to avoid a runoff.

In another booming Huntsville area suburban city, Madison, voters elected a female mayor Ranae Bartlet. She beat two opponents without a runoff.
