Last year at the Consumer Electronics Show, Honda gave us our first peek into the brand's electric vehicle future in the form of the Saloon and Space-Hub concepts — the inaugural visions of what the brand describes as the 0 Series models.
A year on from wowing crowds at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with two wild and all-electric 0 Series concept cars, Honda has returned to CES with new prototypes that are true to the original designs and preview production models that will go on sale next year.
But that turned out to be exactly the plan. Although Sony began developing its EV with the contract manufacturer (and tier 1 supplier) Magna Steyr, the car— now called the Afeela 1 —will be built by Honda, which formed a strategic alliance with Sony to create the aforementioned Sony Honda Mobility, which will sell the new car.
For its Second Founding, Honda is going all-electric and the Saloon and SUV prototypes at CES reflect that fundamental change.
The EV will be available in "two trims," as per Sony, with prices starting from $89,900 with a 3-year complimentary subscription for certain functionality and features, according to a company press release. The tech titan has also announced online reservations through the AFEELA website with a fully refundable reservation fee of $200.

The driver pilots the 0 SUV with a yoke-style steering wheel and a steer-by-wire system similar to what’s used by the Tesla Cybertruck. With no physical connection to the front tires, the yoke in the prototype automatically rotates 180 degrees when the vehicle is off, providing more clearance for entering and exiting the vehicle.
