The shooting happened last year on Nov. 17 as Lanai Dees was driving her car around 12:40 a.m. in the south alley of Century Boulevard, west of South Wilton Place in the city of Los Angeles.

The shooting left Lanai Dees, a 21-year-old Inglewood woman, dead on Nov. 17, 2024 at around 12:40 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The family of Lanai Dees held a press conference on May 1, 2025, announcing a reward as authorities continue to investigate the death of the 21-year-old in South LA in Nov. 2024.

Lanai Dees was driving her white Mercedes Benz in an alley off Century Boulevard in the Westmont neighborhood last November when someone in a dark-colored SUV opened fire, investigators said Thursday.

Her family has identified her as 21-year-old Lanai Ariyana Dees. Anyone with information regarding the shooting death was urged to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the victim as 21-year-old Lanai Dees.
