The Boston Red Sox officially signed free agent first baseman Nathaniel Lowe on Monday and recalled third baseman Nate Eaton from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the roster, the Red Sox designated catcher Ali Sanchez for assignment,

The Red Sox have signed first baseman Nathaniel Lowe for the remainder of the 2025 season. Lowe, 30, appeared in 119 games for the Washington Nationals this season, making 113 starts, but was released on Saturday after batting .216 with a .292 OBP and .373 slugging percentage.

Boston also recalled outfielder/infielder Nate Eaton from Triple-A Worcester, placed outfielder Rob Refsnyder (left oblique strain) on the 10-day IL and designated catcher Ali Sánchez for assignment. Sánchez spent six games on the active roster as a third catcher, recording just one plate appearance.
