The best chance of rain is expected to be from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, before drier conditions return to San Antonio for much of the weekend.

The system will likely bring heavy rainfall over southern Texas over the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). There is a low chance of the system developing into a tropical depression, with the NHC reporting a 20 percent chance of formation through the next 48 hours or seven days.

While there is no longer a risk of a short-lived tropical depression or storm forming in the southwestern Gulf, pockets of heavy rain could still trigger flash flooding into the weekend.
