A young musician from Wem is celebrating a major milestone in her burgeoning military career having successfully passed out from the army’s junior training establishment.

A new book written by Prof Trevor Herbert and aimed at general readers interested in an overall analysis and insight into the brass band movement in the UK and beyond, is to be published in July.

The last of the set was written by Smyth. She based it on a military bugle call, formally titled the Men’s Meal (2nd call).
