A person was found dead Thursday afternoon in a home in Aroma Park as cleanup and repairs continued after an EF-3 ripped through Kankakee County on Tuesday, leaving major damage.

Officials say several tornadoes have torn through parts of Illinois and Indiana, downing trees and power lines in an area south of Chicago and overwhelming the 911 center with emergency calls.

People across southern Illinois and eastern Missouri woke up to quite a mess Wednesday morning after overnight storms slammed the area, causing thousands of dollars in damage. At least four suspected tornados touched down in Illinois alone.

Residents were left to clean up the damage left by tornadoes and record-breaking hail in Kankakee County.

The City of Kankakee said the southern part of the city and the Kankekee County area was hit severely by the storm, causing widespread damage. The public is asked to avoid all roadways south of town and heading into Aroma Park.
