The Weeknd came home to Toronto for the first of four shows at Rogers Centre on Sunday (July 27). It was an emotional night for the Ethiopian-Canadian star born Abel Tesfaye, who has lived in the U.S.

The Weeknd began his career in the city with a legendary debut performance at the Mod Club in 2011, but he’s since gone on to become one of the most successful artists of the streaming era.

The rockers made their network TV debut on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in 2018. Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets take the stage on Saturday at 7 p.m.
