Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar were named Wednesday as two of the three finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award. The award, voted on by the members of the NHL Players’ Association, is for “the most outstanding player.” MacKinnon won the award last season. He would be the first player to repeat since Connor McDavid won in 2017 and 2018.

On Tuesday, the league announced the finalists for the Norris Trophy, which honors the top defenseman. The three finalists for the prestigious award are Cale Makar (Colorado Avalanche), Zach Werenski (Columbus Blue Jackets), and Quinn Hughes (Vancouver Canucks).

Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has a chance to become a repeat Norris Trophy recipient. On Tuesday, the NHL named Hughes, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets as finalists for the award.
