Grizzly 399, a beloved mama bear known as the queen of Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, has died after being hit by a car, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service reports.

Grizzly No. 399 and her ever-growing brood was a beloved favorite of tourists visiting Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park for nearly 30 years before her untimely death on Highway 29/28 on Oct. 22.
“The bear’s remains were put back onto the landscape in Grand Teton National Park.” Grizzly 1058’s mother was Grizzly 399, a well-known bear that also lived in Grand Teton National Park.
Grizzly No. 399 continued to reproduce in old age and raised several cubs close to Grand Teton National Park's roads. As a result, visitors eagerly watched her in her natural habitat, per CNN.
