Coming into today, the Brewers had won every game this year that Brandon Woodruff had started. That is no longer the case. Milwaukee only managed one run against Jameson Taillon and the Cubs’ bullpen as they dropped the second game of today’s doubleheader, 4-1.

In 4 ⅓ innings, Woodruff allowed five hits, three runs and three walks with six strikeouts over a season-high 94 pitches. He took his first loss of the season, falling to 4-1, while the Brewers suffered their first setback of the season with the right-hander on the mound (7-1).

Jameson Taillon pitched six effective innings in his return from a calf injury, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 on Tuesday night for a sweep of their split doubleheader. Michael Busch drove in two runs as Chicago improved to 4-2 on an eight-game homestand. Ian Happ had two hits, and Owen Caissie contributed a bloop RBI single.
