Israel and Hezbollah fought a brief but vicious ground war last year, in the wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on Israel.

The worsening situation comes with the Israel-Hamas ceasefire in Gaza shaky and international powers trying to ensure it holds.

The Israeli military says it targeted military infrastructure for Hezbollah in those areas. It accuses the group of rebuilding its capabilities almost a year after a U.S.-brokered ceasefire.
