In the ninth inning of the Yankees’ 11-5 win over the Mariners on Monday night, third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera fractured his left ankle while scoring on a ninth-inning, bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Aaron Judge. LeMahieu will be in Seattle for Tuesday’s game.
New York Yankees infielder Oswaldo Cabrera suffered what the team later said was a fractured ankle during the club's 11-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.
“It made me sick to my stomach, to be honest,” second-year Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told Newsday from his Citi Field office early Tuesday afternoon. “You hate to see that happen to anyone but knowing the kid, how much joy he brings every day, how much he cares, the personality, it just breaks your heart.”
