Scores of people were killed in rain-related incidents across Pakistan on Friday (August 15), according to a daily report issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). In Pakistani-administered Kashmir, at least 11 people were killed following a cloudburst and flash floods, according to a disaster management authority official.

The flooding was triggered by sudden, intense downpours over small areas and experts have said climate change is a contributing factor.

Rapidly melting glaciers and abnormally heavy rain have led to deadly flash floods in Pakistan, killing over 500 people since late June. Officials expect the death toll to rise as the monsoon season continues.
