Ringo Starr, 84, recently revealed that he demanded script changes in filmmaker Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic about his life. The “Yellow Submarine” hitmaker opened up about the movie and how he spent two days offering “extensive notes” to Mendes in an interview with The New York Times published Wednesday, July 2.

Starr said he gave “extensive notes” to director Mendes while fact-checking the scripts. The scenes in particular that depicted Starr’s family and his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett (whose casting has not yet been announced), were among the sequences that Starr urged to have reworked.

Starr did, however, push back a bit on Mendes when they met in London this past April and went over the script for the Ringo film, the NYT reports. Starr revealed he gave notes on the depiction of his relationship with his first wife,
