The sighting of the shark, believed to be a great white, near busy southern Maine beaches prompted warnings from public safety officials.

Police say the drone footage of the shark was captured Monday morning and shows a great white that is estimated to be 10 to 12 feet long.

The warning was issued just weeks after there were multiple great white sightings in an area of Maine where a woman was fatally attacked by a shark five years ago.
