The Trump administration is stepping up pressure on trading partners to quickly make new deals before a Wednesday deadline, with plans for the United States to start sending letters Monday warning countries that higher tariffs could kick in Aug.

President Donald Trump said he was ending all trade discussions with Canada in retaliation for the country’s digital services tax and threatened to impose a fresh tariff rate within the next week.

Canada and the U.S. have said they were making progress in rekindling their relationship, which was upended by Trump's trade war.
