Willie Sims, a 69-year-old living in Jefferson, Ohio, is accused of strangling a then 24-year-old Jeanette Ralston with a shirt and leaving her dead in the backseat of her Volkswagen on Feb. 1, 1977.

Investigators say DNA evidence connected Willie Sims, 69, to the 1977 strangulation death of Jeanette Ralston in San Jose. There were also signs of sexual assault.

Willie Sims has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has charged 69-year-old Willie Eugene Sims with the murder of a woman he met in a San Jose bar in 1977. Sims currently resides in Ohio.
