Zootopia 2' had a record-breaking opening weekend in China, with $272 million in box office revenue. It's a big deal, particularly for a market that has largely cooled to American films.
The film’s runaway success is particularly notable given the waning influence of foreign films in China, the world’s second-largest film market.

Why do people want ‘Zootopia 2’ to be about Israel?
Claims that the film is about Israel and Palestine raise questions about the cartoon lynxes who control the government and the weather.
Hideo Kojima has a small vocal cameo in Zootopia 2 and was coaxed into the role by director Jared Bush himself
“The incredible response to Zootopia 2 reflects both its worldwide appeal and the remarkable work of our filmmakers and cast,” Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman said in a press release. “It’s a proud moment for Disney Animation and all of us at Disney, not to mention a great way to start the holiday season.”
Now, several viral videos on social media show dog owners in China bringing their pets to screenings, with the furry fans adorably seated in movie seats, enjoying the film. In another video, pet owners can be seen holding their dogs while watching the movie.
Hideo Kojima has a new side-hustle: voice acting. Weary of finding new ways to put Norman Reedus in videogames, the Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator is trying life on the other side of the (sort of) camera. He will be a large mole, which is also a name that could be in Metal Gear.
