The Honolulu Zoo dedicates its time and efforts to protecting the Hawaii State Bird, the Nene. The Nene is considered a “conservation success story” as it was downgraded a few years ago from Endangered to Near Threatened. “We’re so glad that this bird, a symbol of Hawaii is no longer considered endangered.
