◾Black History Month◾ The DAP handshake Filmed by Texas native Marcellus Hartman while serving in Vietnam, this footage of the Long Binh Post Exchange captures Black soldiers greeting each other with a special handshake, called a DAP. It was an acronym for "dignity and pride." White soldiers and commanding officers deemed the handshake a threat, and it was banned at all levels of the military. With sadness, we note the passing of Binh Pho. Binh was a college student in Saigon in 1975, when countless South Vietnamese desperately scrambled to escape the city as it fell to the North. Binh shared his story in our Academy Award-nominated film Last Days in Vietnam.
