It's 50 years since this powerful footage, shot by ITN cameraman Alan Downes, shook the world when it was first broadcast a day after the attack. Phan Thị Kim Phúc was just nine years old when her village Trảng Bàng was targeted by South Vietnamese planes on June 8, 1972. Pilots mistook a group of civilians, including Phúc, for enemy soldiers and diverted their attack - dropping napalm bombs. She suffered third degree burns and her clothes were incinerated in the fiery blast as the bombs landed.
