Laura Steeves was in the fight for her life when she came to Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City 32 weeks pregnant and tested positive for COVID-19. Doctors needed to induce her and then she spent almost 40 days on a ventilator while her newborn son was in the NICU and her military husband was at home caring for their other three children.
