Our North and Central Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) teams conducted a few hours of high-impact patrol in key shopping areas, supporting local retailers and monitoring for retail theft. In just a short amount of time, they made multiple arrests and recovered stolen merchandise. One arrest even resulted in charges for selling fentanyl. The Folsom Police Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team recently conducted 7 operations to combat organized retail theft, a growing issue for local businesses. These efforts led to 30 arrests, including 6 for resisting arrest, 2 for repeat theft offenses, and 3 for organized retail theft. Thanks to recent changes in Proposition 36 (effective 12/18/2024), officers were able to make arrests in situations where suspects would normally have only received a citation.
