Fort Loudoun was a British fortification built in 1756 during the French and Indian war to secure an alliance with the Cherokee Nation against the French. Tensions eventually led to a conflict with the Cherokee, who captured the Fort in 1760, and the structure was destroyed shortly thereafter.
