An often overlooked genus, Carex, is in the Cyperaceae family of sedges. Last year Lilly, our Director of North Florida Programs (Lilly Byrd, found a very rare and federally endangered sedge, Carex lutea, in the Florida Panhandle that had previously only been known to exist in North Carolina.
